Up until 1993, the McGraw barracks were home to American soldiers and their families. Following the withdrawal of the troops, the Studierendenwerk purchased one third of the land, and converted the houses into comfortable shared flats for students. In 2002, the first new buildings were opened; unlike the old buildings, they mainly contain studio apartments as well as small shared flats for two students and also for families. There are also a large number of single-parent apartments in House 1, right above the childcare centre. Please note that the buildings do not have a lift.
